We don't believe in random numbers. Our scoring is grounded in published research on facial aesthetics — the same ideas that artists, mathematicians, and scientists have explored for centuries. Two of the biggest are facial symmetry and the golden ratio.
Facial symmetry measures how closely the left and right sides of your face mirror each other. Research consistently shows that people tend to find symmetrical faces more attractive, partly because our brains associate symmetry with health. The golden ratio, roughly 1.618, is a proportion that appears throughout nature and shows up in faces widely considered attractive.
